VOICE

Grace Bumbry July 30 - August 5
Grace Bumbry is one of the most highly acclaimed singers of her age, performing at the world’s
renowned opera houses and concert halls. In Lübeck young singers get the possebility again to
learn from the experience of her incredible international career. At the end of the classes there
will be a participant’s concert in Lübeck and within the Festival’s program.
The applicants are asked to send a repertoire list containing ten works sorted by priority together
with their application.

Margreet Honig August 6 - 10
Dutch soprano Margreet Honig is again teaching in Lübeck to pass on her longtime experiences to the young generation. She is one of the most sought-after vocal coaches around the globe, giving international masterclasses and teaching at opera studios.
The course repertoire should include at least one Lied..

Gerd Uecker Audition training for opera singers, July 16 - 21
At this year’s masterclasses we offer again classes for young opera singers, which will focus entirely on audition training. Applicants should have finished their singing studies.
For application please send a cv, statement about your studies and a repertory list with ten well-studied arias (in original language). Furthermore the applicants should have a minimum knowledge of the German language.


STRINGS

Ralph Kirshbaum Violoncello July 27 - August 5
The Texan cellist is one of the most important artists and teachers of our time. Ralph Kirshbaum is an excellent chamber musician as well and has been invited to all major Festivals and music centres worldwide. There will be a final concert at the end of classes in Lübeck and within the Festival’s program.

Miklós Perényi Violoncello July 15 - 21
The Hungarian cellist is one of the outstanding cellists of his generation and also well-known as a teacher around the world. Miklós Perényi is a professor at the Franz-Liszt Academy in Budapest and is regularly giving masterclasses. A final concert will take place in Lübeck and within the Festival’s program.


PIANO

Jerome Rose July 31 - August 5
The American pianist is one of the most important artists of his generation and is performing at the world’s greatest concert halls. Jerome Rose is very much in demand as a teacher, giving masterclasses around the globe. He is a regular guest as a juror at the most important international competitions. There will be a final concert at the end of classes in Lübeck and within the Festival’s program.

Fou Ts’ong July 23 - 28
Since his debut at the Royal Albert Hall the Chinese pianist has performed in every continent at the most important concert halls. Time Magazine once described Fou Ts’ong as the »greatest Chinese musician alive today«. Apart from his career as a soloist he is very sought-after as a teacher and juror at international competitions. Applicants are asked not to choose any Russian repertoire. There will be a final concert in Lübeck.


BRASS

Reinhold Friedrich Trumpet July 23 - 28
Reinhold Friedrich is one of the most significant trumpet players of our time: as a soloist, chamber musician, as a leading member of several ensembles or as a member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. In addition he is a professor at the music college in Karlsruhe and at the Royal Academy London. He is regularly giving international masterclasses and is often invited as a member of the jury i.e. at the ARD-Competition in Munich. There will be a final concert in Lübeck.
