The Marstall in Ahrensburg is an architectural jewel in this small town near Hamburg, and is located directly across from the Ahrensburger Schloss. Built in 1845/46, this building served for many years as a breeding facility for elegant racehorses before hosting a series of other types of business, such as a florist center and an auto repair shop around the middle of the 20th century. The Marstall was acquired by the city of Ahrensburg in 1987 and has been lovingly restored since then. Today, the Marstall continues to be filled with cultural life thanks to the Förderverein Kulturzentrum Marstall e.V. (Marstall cultural center organization). A spacious exhibition hall is now located in the front part of the former stables, and 300 seats have been added to the fully renovated former riding hall.
