In 1865 Johannes von Ehren founded a nursery which today is run in fourth family generation by Lorenz von Ehren and his brother in Hamburg-Marmstorf. The nursery’s trees are quite renowned: They decorate the Bundeskanzleramt, the Potsdamer Platz, the Jüdisches Museum in Berlin and grow at the Jungfernstieg in Hamburg. Today the nursery which enjoys a long tradition has around 500 hectares. In the past the owners supplied the English, Danish and Prussian court as well as the court of St. Petersburg. In 1999 the SHMF already hosted a concert in the atmospheric Lorenz von Ehren hall of the nursery.
