The church St. Marien is a model for the brick Gothic style of northern Germany and an adaption of the high-rising Gothic style of France. It is the first church constructed in this way and the archetype for 80 other churches in Northern Europe. St. Marien has a remarkable history. It has the hugest peal of bells in Schleswig-Holstein with 36 bells from the St. Catherine’s Church Gdansk and 125 meters (406 ft) high spires. The circa 40 meters (125 ft) high central nave is the highest brick worked central nave in the world.
