The Nikolaikirche of Plön (church) is located in the center of the city market place and is a neo-Romanesque hall church with barrel vault. Between 1866 and 1888 the church was rebuilt upon the 12th century foundation after lightening had destroyed it in 1864. The present-day windows of the church were incorporated during renovation between 1961 and 1965. The rearrangement of the interior was the carried out in 1986.
