The Alsion is a large new building addition to the new university in Sonderburg, Denmark, which will function as a large lecture hall and concert auditorium. Because of its special wooden floor and the resulting influence on the acoustics, the futuristic building will be opened officially in 2007 under the presence of the Danish royal couple. Sonderburg (in Danish Sønderborg) is a cozy little port city on the island Als, located roughly 40 kilometers north-east of Flensburg and 30 kilometers south-east of Apenrade. The city will receive a true “research park” with new university, which will fill with students for the first time in the winter semester 2007/08.
