They are a band, and a band plays mainly rock and pop music. Viva Voce does the same, but without drums, bass or electric guitar. The five band members produce their cool sounds only with their voice, and this “instrument” they have mastered through and through. Four of the five members of the group learned their singing skills in the renowned Windsbach Boys' Choir, where they occasionally gave small exclusive concerts with pop songs for fun. In 1998 they founded the group, which was known from thenceforth as Viva Voce - The A-cappella-Band. They called their own creative music style Vox-Pop, and they see themselves as pop stars. They, of course, have also internalized the Christian traditions of the Windsbacher Knabenchor, an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Both sides of their artistic leanings can now be seen at the SHMF: on the W.D.R. ferry, the five will show their sparkling Vox-Pop program “Ego” and in the Vicelinkirche, a different sound-space program called “A Piece of the Way.”
The Masterclasses are supported by Possehl-Stiftung, Lübeck, and the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius, Hamburg.
