Janine Jansen is Artist in Residence

"It is a great joy for me! You don't get the chance every day to present your desired program so compressed."

Dutch violin virtuoso Janine Jansen works with the best orchestras in the world. She is a prizewinner; most recently she was awarded the highly endowed Johannes Vermeer Prize in 2018. She has been a guest at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival several times in recent years. As the artist in residence she now performs ten concerts with specially selected programmes of works by Johannes Brahms, Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn.

At her request, Sir Simon Rattle and his London Symphony Orchestra, musical friends such as Jens Peter Maintz and Daniel Blendulf and her father Jan Jansen will come to Schleswig-Holstein to perform with her. Janine Jansen will also be performing in the SHMF format "Meisterschüler-Meister", in which she will give two concerts with a young string ensemble of prizewinners from "Jugend musiziert".
