The Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) is cancelled due to the Corona Pandemic. However, the audience does not have to do without music altogether - the SHMF is currently planning a "summer of colours".

Artistic director Dr. Christian Kuhnt: "We would have liked to spare the artists and our audience the disappointment of a cancellation and to celebrate a big musical festival again. But now it is clear that there will be no SHMF 2020 as we had planned. But a festival like the SHMF will not let a virus stop it from bringing music to the people." The current exceptional situation gave rise to plans for a "summer of colours" with selected concerts in special formats. Details of the channels through which some of the artists invited for this summer will be presented will be announced in the coming weeks.

The SHMF, which is responding to the economic challenges with commitment, is aware of its responsibility towards artists, the public, volunteers and countless service providers. Naturally, the cost of purchased tickets will be reimbursed. However, anyone who feels economically able and willing to do so is expressly encouraged to refrain from reimbursement. The income thus generated will be paid into the "Das SHMF hilft" fund and used entirely for SHMF musicians to alleviate their precarious situation.

Information on the handling of donations and refunds is available online at and by telephone on the ticket hotline +49 431 23 70 70.

The concerts by Gregory Porter, Tom Jones and artist in residence Xavier de Maistre together with star tenor Rolando Villazón will not be cancelled but postponed.
