Today's Burg Filmtheater was built at the beginning of the 20th century on pillars, similar to the houses in Venice, and its architecture is also reminiscent of Greek antiquity. In 1975, the film theater was converted into a service cinema (now a lounge) through extensive renovation work, and the special ambience of the film theater has been preserved to this day. Arthouse films meet curated blockbusters; readings and concerts distinguish the Burg Filmtheater. In 2017, the Burg Filmtheater received the award for an outstanding annual program from the state of Schleswig-Holstein and also a federal cultural award for an outstanding children's program.
