The town of Pronstorf, with a population of about 100, is located only 12 kilometers from Bad Segeberg. The noble fiefdom from the 14th century has decisively shaped the town; the core of the surroundings is the manor house dating back to 1728, which is among the most beautiful Baroque buildings in Northern Germany. This has been the residence of the Count of Rantzau family for over a century now. The old cow stable of the estate was built in 1845 and is distinguishable by its broad construction and old entablature. With elaborate maintenance measures, the impressive brick construction can be used as a venue of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, offering a unique ambience. Pronstorf is also dedicated as venue of the Music Festivals in the Countryside series.
