Located north-east of Flensburg, directly on Flensburg Bay, Glücksburg Castle is one of the most romantic locations of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. It was built between 1582 and 1587 for Duke Johann the Younger of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg in place of the former Cistercian convent. Today, the moated castle is owned by a family foundation of the house Schleswig-Holstein, which regularly hosts cultural events. The white hall of the castle offers an atmospheric setting for the concerts of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
