Reinbek / Schloss

Reinbek Castle was built in the 16th century for Duke Adolf von Holstein-Gottorp in the Dutch renaissance style. It served as the foundation for the later development of the town of Reinbek. Between 1647 and 1874 it was the base of the ducal, and respectively, royal bailiffs of Denmark and of the Prussian provincial government. Since its restoration in the 1980s, the castle serves as an arts and culture center for the residents of the region.
