Hamburg / St. Katharinen
St. Katharinen has been standing on the banks of the Elbe River for over 750 years, in the immediate vicinity of the port which has earned Hamburg the title of "Gateway to the World". St. Katharinen therefore sees itself as a cultural carrier - the church is an art space in which the active confrontation with contemporary culture takes place. Today's 14th century church building is an impressive example of brick Gothic architecture. After extensive renovation, the church now has around 1000 fully seated seats and offers its visitors acoustics at the highest level. Since the completion of the organ renovation (2013), St. Katharinen has served as a performance venue for first-class organ music in the area of the North Church and beyond. In 2019 the church will be the SHMF's venue for the first time.
