The St. Laurentii Church in Itzehoe was built between 1716 and 1781 after a fire destroyed the Gothic church that once stood in its place. Still today, the St. Laurentii Church maintains the character of the time period in which it was built. The sprawling, hall-like church interior is built in three sections, and has vaulted wood rafters. Small galleries encircling the floor of the church, decorated with wood carvings, give the church a distinct Baroque charm. This bright church is a wonderful hall for choir-, chamber music- and brass concerts of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.
