In the heart of Flensburg lies the Stadttheater, which opened in 1894 - a building whose style is based on Italian Renaissance buildings and which also picks up on North German building traditions with its use of bricks. The auditorium of the main auditorium seats around 460 people in the stalls, 1st and 2nd tiers for performances from all genres. Founded in 1974, the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater - the largest state theater in Germany - is the »home« and production site of the music theater, ballet and the Schleswig-Holstein Symphony Orchestra.
