Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:
Allegro for C-clarinet, basset horn and string trio in F major K580b (Fragment, finished version by Franz Beyer)
String quartet in C major K465 "Dissonanzen"
Clarinet quintet in A major K581
“There are many unfinished works Mozart wrote for clarinet. It is difficult to imagine what it would have been like had he completed all of them,” says Sabine Meyer regarding her Sony recording with works by Mozart and Brahms. “He had a lot planned and simply did not have enough time.” Mozart did indeed have a special flair for the clarinet and especially for its slightly lower cousin, the basset clarinet. Mozart composed his two most important works for the basset clarinet: the clarinet quintet from 1789 and his clarinet concerto from the year of his death in 1791. What other jewels might have flown from his pen given the opportunity? Sabine Meyer's little sigh as she thinks about this question is understandable. But there is still much to discover in the existing repertoire – the fragments, for example, of which Sabine Meyer speaks. Such an unfinished work is "Allegro for Clarinet, Basset Horn and String Trio", which she performs together with the French Modigliani Quartet and her brother Wolfgang Meyer.
