Hélène Grimaud, born in Aix-en-Provence, is one of the world’s most famous pianists of our time. She began playing the piano at the age of six, by twelve was already studying at the Conservatoire de Paris, and today makes guest appearances with the most famous orchestras around the world. Her mysterious charisma and moving intensity fascinate audiences beyond the norm. She is a thoughtful artist who goes deep to produce sounds you will not forget any time soon. In her SHMF solo program, this year's portrait artist juxtaposes a carefully selected collection of elegant piano miniatures with the emotionally intense and highly virtuosic piano cycle “Kreisleriana” by Robert Schumann. “The focus of this concert is primarily the art of storytelling. You really must experience this program as an active participant. It is about more than just listening. The audience will have the unique opportunity to become a real partner with the stage, both on an individual and collective level,” says Hélène Grimaud.
