Hilary Hahn plays Bach was the title of her debut album, recorded for Sony at the age of 16 and 17 years. More than 20 years later, it is again simply “Hilary Hahn plays Bach” – as if it could not be otherwise. In fact, Bach was the beginning for the now 39-year-old American. For her debut album, the then 16-year-old chose the most challenging of all endeavors: Bach's sonatas and partitas for violin solo – the prelude to her world career. At that time, she decided to wait until she was twice as old to record the second part. And so it happened, and in 2018 the remaining sonatas and partitas were recorded on an album. In the meantime, she has also recorded two violin concertos that she will now be playing at the SHMF.
