"Austria for Beginners"

Hardly anyone has stirred up the Viennese theater scene in recent years with as much humor and passion as the Austrian actress and television host Katharina Straßer. The 37-year-old star from Tyrol has also achieved great success in film and television. With roles as diverse as Eliza in My Fair Lady, Mizi Schlager in Liebelei, and Maja Landauer in the ORF hit series Schnell ermittelt, she has taken critics and audiences by storm. Straßer, who comes from a theater family, loves to slip into a variety of roles, which she currently demonstrates with great verve – but not quite always politically correct – in the ORF comedy Gemischtes Doppel. She has also hosted the Romy Gala since 2016.
In her new stage program, Katharina Straßer provides a deep insight into the Austrian soul together with pianist Geri Schuller. Especially up here in the North, there is a lot of catching up to do in this field. Therefore, for her new program titled “Austria for Beginners”, the charming “Kathie” not only performs timeless treasures from cabaret legend and the Grand Dame of Viennese chanson Cissy Kraner, but also undertakes an atmospheric musical tour through 50 years of Austrian pop music A witty mixture – and certainly not dialect-free!
