Luxembourg’s Pascal Schumacher is undoubtedly one of the most versatile musicians of his generation: As a vibraphonist, composer, bandleader, and sound director, he develops his always authentic works of art from very different musical influences. He fuses emotional classical music with minimalist electronic sounds to create something that could be described as modern classical music. For Schumacher himself, however, any classification is obsolete – for him, music is rather a single boundless playground. In his new program “LUNA”, Pascal Schumacher artfully combines numerous sonic levels and textures, embarking, as it were, on a musical journey as the day slips gently into night. The suppleness of the vibraphone allows the sparkle of the stars to shine through – from the mini-reverberation audible after each note to the echoes bouncing off the surroundings, it draws the listener up close in an intimate, late-evening encounter with the moon, our radiant friend in the lonely night and eternal satellite.
