The King’s Singers have enchanted and delighted audiences since the earliest days of SHMF. With their unique blend of flawless singing, British humor, and a wide stylistic range, they have set standards – they are the undisputed kings of the a cappella world. More than 50 years after its founding, the ensemble has long since become a British institution. The musicians have not omitted anything over the past decades that can be sung with six voices: chorales, works of the Renaissance, the Romantic period and modern times, songs by the Comedian Harmonists, the Beatles and Billy Joel, spiritual songs, as well as pop and jazz standards. Whenever there has been a change of personnel, The King’s Singers have managed to maintain their high level and the unmistakable sound for which they are world-famous. For the upcoming festival summer, they have compiled a special program from their almost limitless music library that once again combines sound gems from several centuries with a focus on Johannes Brahms, to whom the SHMF is dedicating this year’s composer retrospective.
