5/8erl in Ehr'n
"YEAH YEAH YEAH"
The Viennese band “5/8erl in Ehr’n” has been a fixed star in the sky of the Austrian music landscape for 15 years now. With the new, cheeky program “YEAH YEAH YEAH,” the five thoroughbred musicians are sure to catch the audience off guard with their Viennese soul, which they expand upon with a variety of musical landscapes, be it a Beethovenian art song, a groove on the Moroccan Gnawa, self-optimizing reggae, a Hawaiian guitar rumba, elevator jazz, pop, or a feel-good Afro-Cuban jam. The poetic lyrics convey a great deal of feeling in the Viennese dialect, and the Austrian soul is held up to a mirror – and not in a moralizing and lecturing but rather a tender and self-ironic way. The humor of the music of “5/8erl in Ehr’n” is rooted in its subtle and ambiguous language. “For us, good songs always need a poetic layer, something mysterious. We approach it very sensually and not with a specific goal in mind. We are emotion scientists, not economists,” says 5/8erl keyboarder Clemens Wenger.
