The foundation of the successful hotel chain Maritim was laid in 1969 with the opening of the Maritim Seehotel at Timmendorfer Strand. The hotel is situated directly on the banks of the sea and offers over 241 rooms, a hotel bar and restaurant, fitness room, a wellness area, and a swimming pool. The hotel can also function as a convention center. Regular cultural events provide a well-rounded program for guests, including the Maritim Music Week, chamber-music concerts, and of course, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, which invites all hotel guests and culture fans to listen in.
