Musicians of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra
Lively chamber music in different instrumentations
€ 32EUR / € 26EUR
Situated on a gently curving hill, the gleaming white Plön Castle, which can be seen from afar as one approaches the town, offers a fantastic view over Lake Plön. Architecture and nature converge in wonderful symbiosis here. A chamber music concert with musicians of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra takes place every year in the largest hall of the castle, the Knights’ Hall, with its impressive barrel vault. It is a venue rich in tradition dating back to the mid-18th century, when the court orchestra founded by Duke Friedrich Karl von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Plön started performing music here.
The programming also reflects the noble ambiance. These “Schlossmusiken” performances are small, but refined, because such a variety of instrumentations is rarely found in ordinary chamber concerts. Rather than a line-up of three string quartets, three piano trios or three wind quintets, new musicians with various formations will take the stage with each new piece – a real gem for lovers of chamber music.
