Ton Koopman

Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra
Ton Koopman, Conductor

TriBühne Rathausallee, Norderstedt,

Johann Sebastian Bach:
Orchestra Suite no.4 in D major BWV1069
Concerto for three harpsichords in C major BWV1064 (for flute, Oboe and violin arranged Ton Koopman)
Felix Mendelssohn:
Symphony no.5 in D minor op.107 »Reformations-Symphony«

As early as 2017, Ton Koopman collaborated with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra and quickly became the darling of young musicians from across the world. This is not surprising, because the Dutch Bach specialist, born in 1944 and a grandfather many times over, is happy to pass on his enormous knowledge to the younger generation. And musicians from Europe, South and North America, and Asia follow him with intrigue and marvel at how quickly Koopman manages to make the orchestra sound “baroque”. In the evenings, he sometimes socialized with the young musicians at the bar. He ultimately wants to live to the age of 100 – and curiosity and a thirst for knowledge are certainly not the worst elixirs of life. He has Bach’s concerto performed in his own version for three harpsichords with flute, oboe and violin, because this gives three musicians from the orchestra the opportunity to present themselves as soloists. Typical Koopman!
