Gut Helmstorf

The Helmstorf estate can be traced back to the year 1275. The current estate, which largely dates back to the 18th century, was designed by Friedrich Christian v. Buchwaldt and is a protected monument. The manor house, built in 1725, was remodelled in 1878 to give it its present appearance in the historicist style, which is rather atypical for the region. Every passionate rider will be familiar with Helmstorf from its equestrian history. Magnus v. Buchwaldt (1910-1987) was one of the most important show riders in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s. Dating back to 1725, the »Alte Kuhhaus« and its park are a popular venue for weddings and events. The Buchwaldt/Rumohr alliance coat of arms is emblazoned on the east gable of the 300-year-old building.
