St. Gertrud's Church is located near Lübeck's city park. It was built in 1912 to offer the residents of Lübeck's growing suburbs an alternative to the churches on the old city island. St. Gertrud, the patron saint of travelers and of field and garden crops, among other things, gave her name to the agricultural town long before the church was built. The interior is decorated with stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes.
